TEHRAN – The Iranian defense minister criticizes Saudi Arabia for its military intervention in Bahrain, saying the presence of Saudi troops in Bahrain will cause insecurity in the region.
“Such moves will increase tension and undermine stability and security in the region, and if such thoughtless and unlawful moves become a norm the region will be turned into a center of flare-ups, hostility and conflict,” Defense Minister Ahmad Vahidi told reporters after a cabinet meeting on Tuesday.Vahidi also criticized the Manama officials for inviting foreign troops to suppress the Bahraini people.
“Governments must guard the lives of their people and the independence of their countries rather than inviting other countries to crack down and kill their own people,” the minister noted
