TEHRAN The Speaker of Ethiopian Council of People's Representatives Dawit Yohanes on Monday called for Iran's mediation efforts at the international arena to resolve crisis between Addis Ababa and Asmara. The Ethiopian official made the remarks in a meeting with the Iranian Ambassador to Addis Ababa Hossein Rajabi. In the meeting, Yohanes deplored the double-standard policies of the big powers in dealing with global issues such as the crisis between Ethiopia and Eritrea. He said Ethiopia is for further expansion and deepening of mutual relations with Iran, taking in to consideration the commonalties between the two countries. The Iranian ambassador in reply referred to Tehran's stance with regards to the current crisis between Ethiopia and Eritrea and expressed his support for a peace plan offered by the United Nations and the Organization of African Unity.
