Minister expects 70% turnout in elections

TEHRAN – Iran’s interior minister has predicted a 70 percent turnout in the presidential and city council elections of May 19. 

Speaking to reporters on Tuesday, Abdolreza Rahmani Fazli pointed out that polls suggest somewhere about 60 percent of eligible Iranians will vote, but stressed his optimism that a 70 percent turnout will be the case.
The interior minister also urged all volunteers for presidential elections to respect rules during the electoral campaigns.
