TEHRAN – Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif on Wednesday reiterated Iran’s support for any efforts to reduce the sufferings of the Yemeni people and immediately stop the war in the country.

“Ending the nightmare that is the war in Yemen is our collective responsibility. We welcome the growing recognition that there is no military solution, and we are ready to contribute to any effort towards an immediate ceasefire, humanitarian assistance and intra-Yemeni dialogue,” Zarif tweeted.

More than 12,000 people have been killed since the onset of the Saudi-led military campaign against Yemen more than two and a half years ago. About ten millions are also suffering from starvation.
