Tehran names new ambassador to UN Office in Geneva

TEHRAN – Iran has named a new ambassador to the United Nations Office at Geneva (UNOG), the Foreign Ministry announced on Sunday.
Esmaeil Baqaei Hamaneh was proposed by Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif and confirmed by President Hassan Rouhani, IRNA reported.
Baqaei Hamane was a member of Iran’s negotiating team during the nuclear talks with the six world powers which led to the nuclear deal, also known as JCPOA, in 2015. He, then, became the secretary of a committee for implementing the JCPOA at the Foreign Ministry.
