TEHRAN – A senior foreign policy advisor to the Iranian parliament speaker said on Sunday that the surprise victories of the Syrian army against militants show that Syria has the military power to liberate the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights as well, Mehr reported.

In a tweet, Hossein Amir Abdollahian congratulated the Syrian people, armed forces, and President Bashar Assad on the liberation of Quneitra, saying, “This victory means that the liberation of the occupied Golan Heights is possible with Syrians’ efforts.”

Syrian government forces raised the national flag in Quneitra on Thursday, as the government continued its push to regain full control of the Syrian Golan Heights bordering Israel and Jordan.
