Murder Mystery Does Not End with Saeed Emami, Doroudian

TEHRAN -- Unfortunately, we are witnessing attempts made to cover up the role of three or four people in the mysterious spate of murders, and everything is being attributed to one person, a journalist said here yesterday. The journalist was referring to the statement recently released by the Judicial Organization of the Armed Forces along which a picture of the main culprit behind the spate of mysterious murders, Saeed Emami, and his confessions were released.

Speaking to the TEHRAN TIMES, deputy managing director of the Jomhuri Islami, Seyed Hossein Hosseini, went on to say that those arrested may have had a more important role in the issue; everything cannot be resolved by one person. He added that implicating the Information Ministry in this issue was a big mistake and meaningless. "An issue such as Mehdi Hashemi was investigated without tarnishing the image of the concerned ministry; the same should have happened in this case," Hosseini explained.

Elaborating on the six-month delay in the publication of information on the issue, the deputy said that this delay is not understandable because the statement contained no new information. Also speaking to the TEHRAN TIMES was a member of the Tehran City Council, Mohammad Hossein Doroudian, who said that the Information Ministry did not need so much time to issue the statement.

The ministry should provide more explicit answers to the people. "Without doubt, Saeed Emami did not intend to carry out the task alone; he had many accomplices who were in contact with foreigners," he explained. While emphasizing that culprits involved in the issue should be identified and introduced to the people, the City Council member added that the issue does not end with Emami. It is not as if after his death precise information can no longer be obtained.

"With his death, Emami has not hidden anything because his confessions are on record," Doroudian said. "If the people are not given the information they want, they will not trust the judicial organizations and rumors will further spread." The council member concluded that there are those who sacrifice national interests for their factional interests and believe that light should not be shed on the issue.
