Head of Iran-Kuwait Friendship Group Praises Islamic Revolution

KUWAIT Head of Iran-Kuwait friendship group at the people's Parliament of Kuwait said Monday that the Islamic Revolution of Iran created pride, not only for the Iranian nation, but for the people of the whole region.

Talking to IRNA in Kuwait, Ahmad Nithar al-Shari'an said that with the victory of the Iranian revolution, one of the foundations and pillars for the establishment of civil Islamic societies, based on ethical values and morality, was set in the region.

He referred to the greatest achievements of Imam Khomeini as revival of Islam and presenting a modern version of religion to the world, restoration of social justice, abiding by the rule of law and a program for political development.

Turning to the bilateral relations, the Kuwaiti parliamentarian said, "The formal and informal trips of the two countries' nationals to each others' capitals has played an important role in improvement and expansion of bilateral relations."

Also, Iran's Ambassador to Kuwait said that the Islamic Republic of Iran's relations with the Arab countries have been both expanding and strenghtening during the past few years.

Ali Janati also expressed Iran's strong will to expand its relations with its neighbors in a message aired on Kuwait's channel one and sattelite TV Sunday night, on the occasion of anniversary of the victory of the Islamic Revolution.

Jannati said that President Khatami's detente policy has increased the European and Arab countries' tendency to expand their relations with Iran.

He said, "Iran has always emphasized the neccesity to expand its relations with the Arab and neighboring countries, and above all, with the brother nation of Kuwait."
