TEHRAN -- Iran’s military doctrine is based on warding off possible threats and the armed forces are fully prepared to face such scenarios, Defense Minister Mostafa Mohammad Najar said here on Saturday.

The country’s defense strategy is based on resistance, Najar said at a ceremony held to praise the production of high quality equipment at the Defense Ministry.
“In order to remain independent, we should rely on domestic products” and hence now Iran has become self-sufficient in producing defense equipment, he stated.
The superpowers can not tolerate development of the Islamic Republic, he said, adding that now the enemy is trying to hinder the country’s progress through outdated strategies such as threatening countries and blocking their access to peaceful nuclear energy.
Those who impose sanctions on Iran should know that every time they pressured the nation they had in fact prepared the ground for its further development, Najar noted
