Iran-UAE annual trade volume hits $12b

TEHRAN – A Commerce Ministry official here on Tuesday announced that trade volume between Iran and the United Arab Emirates in the last Iranian year (just ended March 19) stood at $12.3 billion.

“Of this figure, $2.1 billion is related to Iran’s exports to the U.A.E. and the remaining $10.2 is Iran’s imports from the neighboring country,” IRNA quoted Hossein Soltani Nia as saying.
He put the country’s total exports last year at $96 billion of which $72 billion (75 percent) was oil and gas exports and $24 billion (25 percent) was for non-oil exports.
----- Iran-Bahrain trade volume eight folded
TEHRAN – The deputy head of Iran’s Chamber of Commerce, Industries, and Mines on Tuesday said that Iran-Bahrain trade volume within the past few years has increased more than eight times reaching $170 million from $20 million.
Ala Mir-Mohammad Sadeqi announced that the chamber will dispatch a delegation to Bahrain on May 3, lead by Yahya Ale Eshaq head of Iran’s Chamber of Commerce, Industries, and Mines.
According to IRNA, Mir-Mohammad Sadeqi praised Tehran-Manama relations, saying both sides are trying to push the bilateral ties into a better level.
“Iranian and Bahraini investors are eager to construct hotels in Tehran, Mashad, and the North of Iran in the form of joint ventures,” the official added.

BANDAR ANZALI – The managing director of Khazar Sea Shipping Lines said that the company has transported 1.1 million tons of cargo during the last Iranian year (ended March 19).
Jamshid Khalili quoted IRNA, said that the company has 9 vessels and another will be added to its fleet in the current year (ending March 20,2009).
