Leader calls for campaign against financial corruption

TEHRAN (IRNA) -- Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei said on Wednesday that called on the heads of the three branches of government to launch a serious campaign against financial corruption.

“The call made seven years ago on heads of three branches of power to seriously and strongly fight economic corruption is still in effect. The judiciary has a heavy duty to administer justice,” said Ayatollah Khamenei in an address to a group of Judiciary officials headed by Judiciary Chief Ayatollah Mahmoud Hashemi Shahrudi on Wednesday.
He said the Judiciary must seek public satisfaction and try to create a “safe haven for the oppressed”.
Ayatollah Khamenei said the Judiciary must seriously pursue its “valuable” measures in line with the Second Five-Year Economic Development Plan (1995-2000) should so that it can further uplift its status.
He also called for qualitative promotion of the judiciary in light of the wise management of Ayatollah Shahrudi.
He said the judiciary should do its best to shorten the process for investigation of files.
“All files should be investigated speedily, carefully, and strongly free from any hue and cry,” the Supreme Leader said.
Ayatollah Khamenei said that efforts should be made to minimize breaches of law.
