Ahmadinejad proposes moving UN to an ‘independent state’
Tehran Times Political Desk

TEHRAN – President Mahmud Ahmadinejad has proposed that the United Nations headquarters be moved to an independent state.

Ahmadinejad will fly to New York Sunday to attend the UN General Assembly. This would be the president’s fourth trip to the United States. Ahmadinejad last addressed the UN General Assembly in September 2007.

“The United Nations should be the organization of all nations not the organization of some powers and coalitions,” he told Press TV News Network ahead of his trip to New York.

The president said, “All nations should have the right to vote and make decisions at the United Nations and Diplomatic relations should dominate all parts of the United Nations.”

“The UN headquarters should be moved to an independent state so that everyone can make comments there with no limitation.”

Ahmadinejad said he plans to hold talks with senior officials from world nations on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly.

He said, “The Islamic Republic wants to establish friendly relations with nations because it respects all people.”
