TEHRAN – Award-winning documentary “Unfenced Square” by director Mehrdad Zahedian is to go on screen at the cinemateque of the Tehran Museum of Contemporary Art on Wednesday.

There will be a question and answer panel afterwards with the participation of the director.
“Unfenced Square” is about the history of Tehran’s Tupkhaneh (Imam Khomeini) Square from 150 years ago. The film has received several domestic awards.
Works by Nizami, Jami translated into Arabic
TEHRAN – A selection of works by Nizami Ganjavi and Abd al-Rahman Jami were recently translated and published in Arabic by the National Translation Center in Egypt.
Jami’s “Yusuf and Zulaykha”, “Salaman and Absal”; and Nizami’s “Haft Peykar” (The Seven Beauties), “Makhzan al-Asrar” (The Treasury of Secrets), and “Khosro and Shirin” were translated into Arabic by Abdulaziz Baqoush.
The center is also currently working on translations of some of Iran’s contemporary literature.
Intl Quran competition to honor Tahereh Saffarzadeh
TEHRAN -- Recently deceased Iranian poet and translator Tahereh Saffarzadeh will be commemorated at the Muslim students International Quran competition.
Saffarzadeh, who was busy with translating a selection of the Nahj-ul-Balagha of Imam Ali (AS) into Persian and English, had previously published a bilingual translation of the Quran in Persian and English in 2001.
The competition will be held from November 10 to 14 at Milad Tower
