The Health and Treatment committee of the Majlis has warned of genetic mutations in the next generation of Gazans.

In a Wednesday statement declared the committee said that thewhite phosphorous used by the Israeli army can cause genetic mutations in Gazans.
White phosphorus -- known by the military as WP or Willie Pete -- is used in munitions, to mark enemy targets and to produce smoke for concealing troop movement. It can also be used as an incendiary device to firebomb enemy positions.
If particles of ignited white phosphorus land on a person's skin, they burn through flesh to the bone. Toxic phosphoric acid can also be released into wounds, risking phosphorus poisoning.
Exposure to white phosphorus smoke in the air can cause liver, kidney, heart, lung and bone damage and can even lead to death.
Classified as a 'chemical weapon' by the U.S. intelligence, white phosphorus is a known genotoxic capable of causing genetic mutations and cancer by disrupting the biochemistry of the body.
The Iranian lawmakers also condemned the Israeli navy's interception of a ship carrying medical and food supplies to the Gaza Strip and said that no government or army has the right to deprive the people of Gaza of their internationally accepted right to food, water, electricity and medical treatment.
Members of Iran's Health and Treatment committee called on the international community to help provide Gazans with necessary humanitarian and medical aid.
Since the beginning of the Israeli aggression against Gaza on Dec. 27 more than 1,000 Palestinians have been killed and 4,580 others have been wounded. (Source: Press TV)
