TEHRAN - Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad stated on Monday that Iran welcomes the change in U.S. foreign policy.

The Islamic Republic of Iran welcomes any fundamental changes in the approach of U.S. officials, he told a gathering of thousands of people in the western province of Kermanshah.
Pointing to the recent remarks of U.S. President Barack Obama, Ahmadinejad stated, “We will closely monitor their behavior… and if any fundamental changes occur, we will welcome (them).”
Obama rode to victory in the U.S. presidential election using the motto “change”.
Ahmadinejad added, “When the president of the United States says, ‘We are going to make changes in our plans,’ this change may be of two types: a fundamental, profound, and beneficial change… or a change that is just a political strategy at the level of words.”
“Whatever they mean by change will soon become evident.”
The Iranian president criticized the policies of former U.S. president George W. Bush, saying, “One of the most important problems with Bush and his colleagues was the way they looked at humanity. They treated other countries with the assumption that they were better (than) and should dominate others.”
“The real change is this: They should change the way the officials of the United States talk. They should talk with nations modestly. If the same bullying, arrogant, and domineering words are uttered again, actually no change has taken place.”
