TEHRAN – The Iraqi government spokesman has announced that Baghdad has allowed Iran to reopen its consulate in the shrine city of Najaf.

Ali al-Dabbagh stated that the decision came as the Iraqi council of ministers accepted proposal by the Iranian Foreign Ministry to reopen the consulate, the Baghdad-based Al-Sabah newspaper reported on Wednesday.
Based on the decision, the Iraqi government can also establish a similar consulate in Iran based on mutual agreement in the near future
