Foreign officials congratulate Ahmadinejad on reelection

TEHRAN -- In separate messages on Sunday, top foreign officials including Qater’s emir, Pakistan’s and Iraq’s presidents congratulated Ahmadinejad’s victory in Iran’s presidential election.
Leabon’s Hezbollah movement also issued a statement to congratulate Ahmadinejad for winning the presidency.
Iraqi President Jalal Talabani said he is sure that Iran-Iraq friendly relations will be boosted in the future years, adding that peace and security will prevail in the region.
Arab League Secretary General Amr Moussa also hoped Ahmadinejad’s reelection would lead to a development of ties between Iran and Arab world.
In separate messages Qatari Amir Hamad bin Khalifa al-Thani, Crown Prince Tameem Bin Hamad Al-Thani, and Prime Minister Sheikh Hamad bin Jassem al-Thani also congratulated Ahmadinejad.
Syrian President Bashar al-Assad also felicitated the president.
Pakistan’s President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani sent felicitation messages to President Ahmadinejad.
While extending his heartiest felicitations and good wishes of government and people of Pakistan, Zardari said Ahmadinejad’s reelection is indeed a testimony of the confidence of the people of Iran in his leadership qualities and an acknowledgement of his outstanding services.
Zardari said he was confident that the close and brotherly relations between Pakistan and Iran will be further fortified in the years ahead.
Prime Minister Gilani in his message said: “On behalf of the government and people of Pakistan, I wish to convey to you and our Iranian brothers success, peace, happiness and prosperity.”
The PM said: “We are determined to further strengthen our cooperative ties in a comprehensive manner. I have no doubt that our close brotherly relations will strengthen and attain new heights in the years ahead.”
