Confirmed cases of swine flu victims reach 61: minister

TEHRAN – Health Minister Kamran Baqeri Lankarani said on Thursday that the number of people found infected with swine flu virus has reached 61.

The Health and Medical Education Ministry calls for cancelation of or serious limitations on the Umrah pilgrimage during the holy month of Ramadan in order to reduce the risk of catching the disease, Lankarani added.
The minister heretofore urged citizens to refrain from hugging travelers who return from other countries to prevent the spread of virus.
According to Iranian health officials, the confirmed cases include individuals returning from the hajj pilgrimage and travels to Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia, Syria, Iraq, and the U.S.
Meanwhile, the Majlis Health Committee deputy chairman Hossein-Ali Shahriari has predicted that at least 10 million Iranians may get the virus within the next 2 to 3 years
