IAEA report proved propaganda over new plant were baseless
Tehran Times Political Desk
TEHRAN – The new report by the International Atomic Energy Agency released on Monday proved that commotion created over Iran’s second nuclear enrichment facility were baseless, Ali Asghar Soltanieh, the country’s ambassador to the IAEA, has said.
“The inspections’ results show the consistency of all the information provided by Iran on its second uranium enrichment facility (Fordo),” Soltanieh told ISNA in an interview published Tuesday.
He added, “This report, like the agency’s previous reports, is normal and repetitive, and (it is) again an account of the process of regular inspections of Iran’s nuclear facilities.”
The only difference in the new report is its information about the inspections of Iran’s second uranium enrichment facility, he noted.
According to the report, Iran has not installed any centrifuges and has not used any nuclear material in the new facility, he added.
The report also shows that all political propaganda campaigns against the country’s Fordo facility were baseless, Soltanieh observed.
He went on to say Tehran, in its report to the IAEA, reiterated that the country had to build the second enrichment facility due to the constant threats of attacks on its nuclear facilities.
Elsewhere in his remarks, he said Iran will not stop its peaceful nuclear activities including uranium enrichment and that the country has predicted ways to counter any threats against its nuclear plants.
Soltanieh also reiterated that Tehran will continue its transparent cooperation with the IAEA.
New IAEA findings reconfirm Iran’s nuclear reports
Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ramin Mehmanparast has said that the new IAEA report about its nuclear program was a reconfirmation that Tehran is sincere in reporting about the nature of its nuclear activities.
“Mohamed ElBaradei’s new report proves that the IAEA’s findings are wholly consistent with Iran’s reports on (its) peaceful nuclear program,” Mehmanparast said in a statement in New Delhi on Monday.
Mehmanparast accompanied Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki during his official visit to India.
The new spokesman added that West’s politicization of Iranian nuclear dossier has only delayed the process of finding a solution. In its report released on Monday the outgoing UN atomic watchdog chief announced that Iran’s new nuclear plant being built near the holy city of Qom ""corresponds to the design information provided by Iran"".
However, the International Atomic Energy Agency said, ""Iran's explanation about the purpose of the facility and the chronology of its design and construction requires further clarification,"" AFP reported
