MNA, Mongolia’s Montsame sign cooperation deal

TEHRAN -- The Mehr News Agency and the Mongolian news agency Montsame signed an agreement on Tuesday for exchanging news.

The deal, which was signed by MNA Managing Director Parviz Esmaeili and Montsame Managing Director Baasansuren Tugalkhun, includes an exchange of news as well as training and technical cooperation.

Founded on July 19, 1921 as MONTA, the Mongolian telegraph agency, it has now cooperation deals on news exchange with the ITAR-TASS, RIA Novosti, Reuters, Xinhua, VIA, PTI, Yonhap, Kyodo Tsushin, Prensa Latina, Anadolu, VOA, Ukrinform, and other news agencies.

As an OANA member, the Montsame regularly exchanges news with its 32 member news agencies and supplies news and information on events taking place in Mongolia.

The Mehr News Agency also signed cooperation agreements with three other Asian news agencies on Sunday on the sidelines of the 31st Executive Board Meeting (EBM) and the 25th Editorial-Technical Experts Group (ETEG) Meeting of the Organization of Asia-Pacific News Agencies (OANA).

The contracts were signed in the presence of representatives of the OANA members by the MNA managing director and his three counterparts -- Chang-Hoe Kim, Ahmad Mukhlis Yoesoef, and Hassan Hasnul-- respectively from Korea’s Yonhap, Indonesia’s Antara, and Malaysia’s Bernama.

According to the Sunday agreements, the news agencies will cooperate in exchanging news as well as technological and training issues
