All political groups will hold Ten-Day Dawn ceremonies: Khatami
Tehran Times Political Desk
TEHRAN - Former president Mohammad Khatami said that this year, people of all political persuasions loyal to the Islamic system will celebrate the Ten-Day Dawn ceremonies.
The Ten-Day Dawn (February 1-11) is a national celebration of the anniversary of the victory of the Islamic Revolution.
Khatami made the remarks in a meeting with the members of the Central Council of Iran’s House of Parties.
“Those who seek to set the Imam (Khomeini), the leadership, and the establishment against political groups are enemies of the revolution. Those who have hidden their unreasonable demands behind religious sanctities are enemies of the revolution, not us,” he stated.
He pointed to the historic significance of the Islamic Revolution as a unique event in terms of its aims and leadership, adding, “We want Islam and the Constitution” and if a political group aims to undermine the leadership and appropriate the revolution, this is an affront to the revolution and Islam.
“We have always asked people to remain calm,” he said.
In this country, everyone who acts within the framework of the Constitution should enjoy civil rights, he noted.
“We don’t approve of lawbreaking and violence,” he emphasized
