TEHRAN -- If a new UN sanctions resolution is ratified, Iran will shelve the nuclear fuel swap agreement it reached with Turkey and Brazil, Deputy Majlis Speaker Mohammad-Reza Bahonar said on Thursday.

The 5+1 group (the five permanent members of the United Nations Security Council plus Germany) and the UN Security Council have come to a consensus on Iran, and a fourth resolution imposing sanctions on Iran will most probably be ratified in the near future, Bahonar added.

On the sidelines of the Group of 15 summit, which was held in Tehran on May 17, Iran, Turkey, and Brazil issued a declaration, according to which Iran would ship 1200 kilograms of its low-enriched uranium to Turkey to be exchanged for 120 kilograms of 20 percent enriched nuclear fuel to power the Tehran research reactor, which produces radioisotopes for cancer treatment.
The exchange would take place in Turkey under the supervision of the International Atomic Energy Agency and Iran
