Leading articles
KAYHAN in an editorial says two days ago Ayatollah Hashemi Rafsanjani issued a message marking the 19th of Day (9th January), a day symbolizing the uprising of Qom people against the Shah regime in 1978. The release of such a statement over the last 33 years is unprecedented and we hope Ayatollah Hashemi answer some questions to make it clear. Why Mr. Hashemi during this long period did not issue any statement on the subject? What provoked him to do so? Mr. Rafsanjani, in part of his statement, says the U.S. and the Shah regime, like the infidel head of Qoraish, were in frustration to cope with the increasing struggle of people and their obedience of Imam and the clergy. Rafsanjani says in the same year, the Shah regime sought two approaches: to physically remove Imam and assassinate his character. For a “physical removal” the regime targeted Imam’s son Hajj Agha Mostafa Khomeini in 1978 in attempt to discourage Imam from his struggle. But Imam stood firm and people followed him. To do a character assassination on imam an article was published in Ete’lat newspaper in the same year insulting Imam which ultimately led to the collapse of the Shah regime.
JOMHURI ESLAMI in its editorial says the West is still suffering from economic crises which started in 2008. It seems the Western countries are not capable to burden the crisis and have decided to share it with other countries including Eastern and Middle Eastern countries! The editorialist writes politicians and Western statesmen, as usual, are seeking ways to share the costs of economic meltdown with developing states like China and India or even oil producing countries in the Mideast. Last year was the year of currency clash as Western states including the U.S. devalued their currencies in order to improve their economic situation which inflicted heavy damages on Asian economies. According to economists, the same policy would continue in the New Year and the Federal Reserve will inject billions of dollars into the U.S. economy this year and the EU and China will continue the currency clash to devalue their currencies as well.
