TEHRAN - Millions of Iranians and Egyptians celebrated on the 11th of February as the anniversary of the Islamic Revolution of Iran coincided with the success of the Egyptian uprising against President Hosni Mubarak’s 30-year rule.

In Iran, millions of people from all walks of life held rallies across the country to commemorate the 32nd anniversary of the Islamic Revolution.
In the capital, hundreds of thousands of people converged on the streets leading to Azadi Square, where Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad addressed the people.
The demonstration in Tehran was covered by over 600 photojournalists and correspondents from a number of countries.
Some marchers carried pictures of the late Imam Khomeini, the Founder of the Islamic Republic, and Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, the current Leader of the Islamic Revolution.
The people chanted “God Is Great,” “Down with the United States,” “Death to Israel,” and other slogans.
They also carried a 16-kilometer-long Iranian flag as revolutionary songs filled the air.
In addition, the demonstrators expressed their solidarity with the Tunisian and Egyptian nations and chanted slogans denouncing Hosni Mubarak.
Chants of “Egyptians, Tunisians, your uprisings are just and we are with you,” “Death to Mubarak,” “Hosni Mubarak, ‘mubarak’ (congratulations) on the uprising of your people,” were heard in the streets. Some people also set an effigy of Mubarak on fire.
At the end of the demonstration, the marchers issued a statement, in which they emphasized that vigilance and resistance are the keys to foiling the enemies’ plots. They also reaffirmed their allegiance to the concept of velayat-e faqih (rule of the supreme jurisprudent).
Almost all senior and mid-ranking officials took part in the rallies and praised the people for their massive and glorious participation in the national rallies.
A number of foreign diplomats from Asia, Europe, the Americas, and Africa also attended the celebrations.
Middle East without Israel taking shape
In his speech, the Iranian president said that a new Middle East will take shape in which the United States and Israel will have no place.
“Despite all the (West’s) complicated and satanic plots… a new Middle East will take shape soon without the Zionist regime and the United States. And there will be no room for the arrogant in that Middle East,” Ahmadinejad stated.
The world will soon savor the sweet taste of a world free of Zionism, arrogance, and bullying, he added.
“You have reached a dead-end,” the president stated, addressing the global hegemons.
He added, “You (the U.S.) are an accomplice to crimes committed by the Zionist regime and the oppression which is being inflicted on regional nations. If you indeed want to modify your behavior and gain nations’ trust, first of all do not interfere in the affairs of (other) countries and regional nations, including Egypt and Tunisia… let them make their own decisions.”
Take away the Zionist regime, which is the source of all corruption, and liberate the region, Ahmadinejad said, addressing the United States.
He also advised Egyptians not to be deceived by the “friendly face” that the U.S. has adopted.
“They (the U.S.) have adopted a friendly face and are portraying themselves as friends of the people of regional, North African, and Islamic Arab countries,” but they are actually pursuing their evil goals, he stated.
“It’s your right to be free” and choose your own path, Ahmadinejad told the Egyptians.
Iran will send a man into space in 10 years
Commenting on the country’s achievements in the area of science and technology, Ahmadinejad announced that Iran will send astronauts into space in 10 years.
He also said that Iran plans to send living creatures into space during Iranian calendar year 1390, which begins on March 21.
