24 Somali pirates who had been involved in kidnapping 16 Iranian fishermen were handed over to Kenyan police by Denmark on Sunday. The pirates have been held on board the Danish frigate Esbern Snare since May, when they were apprehended in the Gulf of Aden, Somalia.

The decision to prosecute the pirates has been made after fruitful cooperation between Denmark, Kenya and Iran. The Iranian hostages were rescued on May 12th by Esbern Snare.
