TEHRAN – Iranian Majlis Speaker Ali Larijani has said that there are signs that the situation in Syria is improving, expressing hope that the situation in Syria would become better in the future.

Larijani made the remarks during a meeting with Syrian Deputy Foreign Minister Faisal Mekdad in Tehran on Wednesday.

The remarks by Larijani came as the Syrian Army has achieved successive military victories against militants groups in the recent weeks.

Mekdad said that the U.S. and its allies’ air attacks in Syria are in fact intended against the legal government of Syria and not terrorists.

The U.S. sought to turn the conflict in Syria into an attrition war, Mekdad said.

He also said that Syrian President Bashar al-Assad is on the belief that Syria will win the war against terrorists by the aid of Iran and Hezbollah.
