Iran presents Ban Ki-moon with portrait

TEHRAN -- Iran’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Mohammad Khazaei has presented the UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon with a Persian carpet tableau bearing his portrait.

Iran displayed carpet tableaux bearing the portraits of all the previous UN secretary generals at the UN Headquarters in New York in 1997 and the portrait of Ban Ki-moon will be added to the collection.
----------Nikol Faridani school of photography to be established
TEHRAN -- Wife of veteran photographer Nikol Faridani said on Saturday that a school of photography in the name of Nikol Faridani is to be established in Tehran, MNA reported.
Monir Soltani added that Ahmad Masjed-Jamei, a member of Tehran’s City Council has promised to establish the school and has also purchased several of Faridani’s photos.
Faridani was taken to a Tehran hospital last Wednesday suffering from prostate cancer.
----------Intl. role of Persian poetry to be reviewed at Book City
TEHRAN -- John D. Yohannan’s “Persian Poetry in England and America”, translated by Ahmad Tayammomdari will be reviewed during a session at Book City on September 18.
Concurrently with National Poetry and Literature Day, Tehran’s Book City is to review the role of Persian poetry in world literature, particularly in English and German speaking countries.
--------“Cotton Necktie” to be screened at UISFF
TEHRAN -- The short Iranian animation “The Cotton Necktie” by Farzaneh Zeinali is to be screened at the 26th Upsalla International Short Film Festival (UISFF) which is being held in Sweden from October 22 to 28.
The 10-minute animation is about an eraser which is commissioned to erase all the good words in a dictionary
