TEHRAN -- “We advise the French to say what they have to say and not to repeat the others’ words,” government spokesman Gholam-Hossein Elham said on Wednesday, calling France’s recent anti-Iranian stances “amateurish.”

Following the failed policies of “others” would undermine the reputation of France, he stated.
French Foreign Minister Bernard Kouchner said on Sunday that his country must prepare for the possibility of war against Iran over its nuclear program. However, he later toned down his words and said “…and to avoid worst, the French position is to very clear: negotiate, negotiate, negotiate….”
Elham said Iran would use ""all our means"" to defend itself if attacked by the West for its peaceful nuclear program.
When asked whether Iran would block the Hormuz Strait, the world's most important water way for oil shipments, if attacked, he dismissed it as ""far- fetched"" that anybody would take ""this foolish option.""
But, ""we would use all our means to defend ourselves because territorial integrity is a key issue for every country,"" he told a news conference.
-----------Ties with Egypt
Regarding a possible rapprochement between Iran and Egypt, he said, “Save for the exception that we have stated before, ties with all countries is on the agenda.”
Iran’s stance on Egypt is what President Ahmadinejad has announced and there has been no change in government’s policy since then, he added.
Regarding negotiations with the U.S., Elham said, “No negotiation with U.S. is on our agenda. As for Iraq’s issue, we have announced our position and it is very clear.
