Iranian footballer Shirzadegan dies of lung cancer

TEHRAN – Former national footballer Hamid Shirzadegan died of lung cancer at the age of 66 in Apadana Hospital, central Tehran, Friday.

His career started in Shahin Club and continued in the United States where he played for Kickers Baltimore. Shirzadegan returned home and founded Tehran’s Naft.
Known as “Golden Feet”, he played for Iran’s national squad from 1959 to 1966.
His body will be laid to rest Sunday
