Istanbul to host Iranian cartoonist’s workshop

TEHRAN -- Iranian cartoonist Javad Alizadeh is to hold a workshop at the 5th International Istanbul Cartoon Festival taking place from November 17 to 25.

Alizadeh is also scheduled to make a speech during a symposium, which will be held on the sideline of the event, the Persian service of ISNA reported on Saturday.
Organized by the Yeni Yuksektepe Cultural Association, the festival focuses on the theme “Intercultural Tolerance”.
Veteran Turkish cartoonist Tan Oral is to head the jury at the festival.
More than 120 cartoonists from different countries are participating in this year’s event. The cartoons to be exhibited during the festival in Istanbul will also go on show in other cities of Turkey including Ankara, Izmir, Adana, Antalya, Van, and Bursa.
Alizadeh was born in 1953 in Ardebil, northwestern Iran, and got his B.A. in English translation. He is a self-taught cartoonist who has been drawing cartoon since 1970. He is the managing director of the magazine Tanz-o-Caricature (Humor and Cartoon)
