British company purchases copyright of Iran’s “Banana Rind”

TEHRAN -- The British film company “Can Too Entertainment” has purchased the world distribution copyright of the Iranian film “Banana Rind”.

The agreement was signed between Iran’s Bita Film Company and the British company on December 27.
“Banana Rind” was directed by Ali Atshani and the screenplay was written by Amir-Ali Mohsenian.
“Can Too Entertainment” will begin the global distribution of the movie after Tehran’s 26th Fajr Film Festival in February when it will premier in cities including Manchester, Birmingham, Hamburg, Istanbul and Kuala Lumpur.
The movie narrates the story of a young man named Hamid who slips into a coma after an accident. He finds himself in purgatory where his ghost falls in love with the ghost of a young woman.
Hamid’s health gradually improves and he comes out of the coma. He wants to return to purgatory to meet the young woman again but this would entail committing suicide, which is forbidden in Islam.
Hamid Farrokhnejad, Behnush Tabatabaii, Behzad Farahani, Mehran Rajabi, Kianush Gerami, Kiumars Malekmotiei and Giti Moini are among the cast.
