Larijani says Iran ready for peaceful nuclear cooperation with Egypt

TEHRAN -- Ali Larijani, the former secretary of the Supreme National Security Council, who is on tour of Egypt has underlined Tehran’s readiness for peaceful nuclear cooperation with Egypt, Al-Alam TV reported.

“Iran is ready to offer Egypt its nuclear experiences under the supervision and regulations of International Atomic Energy Agency,” Larijani said in a meeting with Egyptian prominent authors and journalists like Gamal Fahmi who is a member of the board of the Egyptian Press Union.

Mostafa Al-labbad, editor in charge of New West daily, commented on Larijai’s remarks as “optimistic”.

Egyptian journalists also stressed the need for solidarity between the two states to dilute the U.S. and Israel’s influence in the region.

Larijani arrived in Cairo on December 24 to visit Egypt’s cultural and academic centers and hold talks with a number of Egyptian officials and scholars.

He has met a number of officials among them the Head of Egypt’s National Security Organization, Omar Suleiman, Arab League Secretary General, Amr Moussa, and Grand Sheikh of Egypt’s Al-Azhar University, Sheikh Muhammad Sayyid al-Tantawi
