TEHRAN -- A joint work of the Iranology Foundation and the Iranian Academy of Persian language and Literature entitled “The Persian Gulf in Historical Maps” will be unveiled at the Iranology Foundation next week.

The book is co-authored by scholars Mohammad-Hassan Ganji, Mohammad-Baqer Vosuqi, Javad Safinejad, Fatemeh Faridi, and Amir-Hushang Nuri and edited by the Iranology Foundation Chairman Hassan Habibi.
“Much has been said about the Persian Gulf and the history of this famous water passageway has been recorded from various political, social and economic points of view; and yet it has always been linked to the land of Iran.
“Over the past few decades, the name of the Persian Gulf has sometimes been subject to biased distortions -- to defiance of authentic historical, geographical and archaeological documents. The Iranology Foundation decided to publish part of the Persian Gulf history in several volumes,” reads part of the introduction to the book written by scholar Hassan Shahrestani.
