Peykan wins Asian volleyball championship

TEHRAN (Press TV) -- Iran's Peykan volleyball team has clinched the championship at the 19th Asian Men's Club Volleyball Championship in Almaty, Kazakhstan.

The Iranian squad won the title for the fourth time after defeating hosts Almaty 3-1 in the final before 5,000 Kazakh spectators on Tuesday.
The Asian defending champion, coached by Mostafa Karkhaneh, lost the first set 25-20, but took the lead and won the other sets 28-26, 25-22 and 25-19.
The Japanese team beat the UAE's al-Nasr and stood in third place in the competition.
The 19th Asian Men's Club Volleyball Championship began June 17 and ended July 24.
Peykan won the Asian title in 2002, 2006 and 2007.
