Israel not in a position to attack Iran: Elham

TEHRAN – An Iranian cabinet official said on Saturday that Israel is too weak to dare to attack Iran.

“The Zionist regime is not in a position to even think about attacking Iran,” government spokesman Gholam Hossein Elham said in response to remarks by the French president who had said Iran might be attacked by Israel if it continues its nuclear program.
During a visit to Damascus on Thursday, Nicolas Sarkozy said Iran is “taking a major risk in continuing the process to obtain a military nuclear capacity…Because one day, no matter which Israeli government is in power, one morning we will awake to find Israel has struck.”
“Is Mr. Sarkozy a spokesman for the occupying and counterfeit regime?” Elham asked. “If so, we advise him not to proceed in that direction,” he told reporters during a news conference.
“These threats are because of weakness…it only reflects the warmongering and terrorist nature of the Zionist regime,” Elham stressed.
He said the European and American allies of Israel should think deeply about the nature of the regime they are supporting because the real threat to the global peace is the Zionist regime.
The Islamic Republic has vowed that any attack on its territory will be met by a crushing response.
Iran insists its nuclear activities are solely aimed at producing electricity for a growing population and that as a signatory to the Non-Proliferation Treaty it has the right to develop civilian nuclear technology
