TEHRAN -- Iran has started constructing new naval bases along the coast of the Sea of Oman, Navy Commander Rear Admiral Habibollah Sayari announced on Wednesday.

Sayari said the new bases, which will extend from Bandar Abbas to Pasa Bandar, will be constructed rapidly.
“The new mission of the Navy is to establish an impenetrable line of defense at the entrance to the Sea of Oman,” the admiral said in Hormozgan Province.
He went on to say that the Navy is relying on its valiant and well-trained forces and building upon the experiences of the eight-year Sacred Defense (1980-1988 Iran-Iraq war).
The United States has threatened to use military force against Iran in the dispute over its nuclear program, which Tehran insists is totally peaceful.
“If the enemy goes insane, we will drown them at the bottom of the Indian Ocean and the Sea of Oman before they reach the Strait of Hormuz and the entrance to the Persian Gulf,” the navy commander stated
