Mellat Cinema Complex opens in Tehran

TEHRAN -- The Mellat Cinema Complex was opened during a ceremony at the Mellat Park on Sunday.

Tehran Mayor Mohammad-Baqer Qalibaf and several Iranian cineastes and stage artists attended the ceremony.
The number of cultural and artistic centers in metropolitan Tehran has been increasing in recent years and that is happening according to some detailed planning, Qalibaf mentioned during the ceremony.
Cinema is one of the most popular forms of art that plays an influential role in society. Tehran Municipality considers cinema as a means to debate cultural issues, he added.
He went on to say that the theater hall for ritual performances will be open in near future and also expressed his hope that additional cultural and artistic complexes would be established in Tehran by next autumn.
The opening of the musical fountains and also the cinema complex in Mellat Park are two important projects that were completed recently in this region of Tehran, he added.
The complex is in an area of 6000 square meters in southwestern part of the Mellat Park. It contains four theater halls with 280 seats, a cinematheque with 30 seats, and space for holding exhibitions and marketing cultural products.
The complex has been designed and built to the same standards of quality as Tehran City Theater, Vahdat Hall and Tehran Museum of Contemporary Arts.
