TEHRAN – Pakistan’s Ambassador to Tehran, Muhammad Bux Abbasi, announced on Monday that the “enemies of Iran and Pakistan cannot affect relations” between the two neighbors by abducing the Iranian diplomat.

Heshmatollah Attarzadeh, commercial attaché of the Iranian consulate in Peshawar, the capital of the North West Frontier Province (NWFP), was kidnapped from Hayatabad neighborhood when he was heading to his office.
“It was a sad news for me as new ambassador of Pakistan to Iran” who wanted to develop relations between the two countries, Abbas told a news conference.
He added that “Pakistan wants to be a friend and brother of Iran” as before and the relations between the two states will continue to “flourish”.
He said the terrorist do not like to see a “strong relations” between Iran and Pakistan. The ambassador said Iran and Pakistan must neutralize the abductors’ vicious acts by cementing their ties.
Pakistan’s top diplomat to Tehran also said that a “foreign hand” may be at work to do some infliction against Iran.
The ambassador sympathized with the Iranian government and the family of the kidnapped diplomat, saying, “Iranian brothers are very worried” about this mishap and “every effort should be made” to retain his release from the kidnappers.
Abbasi went on to say that he is in constant “contact” with Pakistan officials including interior ministry officials to receive the latest news about the incident and expressed hope that Attarzadeh would be released this week otherwise he will travel to Pakistan to personally pursue the issue.
The security forces have “locked the whole area” that the diplomat is supposed to be held hostage, he explained.
On those who have been arrested on suspicion of having contacts with the kidnappers, he said security forces may have derived some information from suspects but they will not reveal their findings for “security reasons”.
However, he insisted that it is a very “delicate investigation” and all precautionary measures should be taken into consideration so that the life of the diplomat will not be threatened. He added his government is using all means including contacting local people and tribal leaders for a safe release of the diplomat.
