Muslim states cold on Gaza talks

A senior aide to President Ahmadinejad says only eight Islamic states had voiced their readiness to attend an emergency meeting on Gaza.

The Iranian president's senior advisor, Mojtaba Samareh-Hashemi pointed to follow-up efforts made by Iran to bring together the member states of the Organization of Islamic Countries (OIC) in an emergency meeting on the crisis in the Gaza Strip.
""In contacts we had (with the OIC member states), only eight countries said that they will attend the meeting,"" Fars news agency quoted him as saying.
Samareh Hashemi's comments come as the Saudi newspaper, Arab News, has reported that foreign ministers of the 57-member OIC will attend a meeting in Jeddah on Saturday to discuss the Gaza crisis.
