TEHRAN – Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki announced here on Sunday that Iran and Iraq have formed an expert committee and a high joint committee to strengthen commercial and industrial relations between the two countries.

Talking to reporters at the end of his 2-day visit to Tehran, he said his trip was aimed at expanding Iran-Iraq relations.
“The Iraqi minister of commerce and the Iranian foreign minister are in charge of the follow-up expert committee,” he added.
The high joint committee will meet on due dates and the concerned ministers from both sides will study economic, commercial and industrial opportunities for cooperation, he explained.
Al-Maliki stated that the agreements will boost cooperation between the Iranian contractors operating in Iraq with Iraqi companies.
He said the two countries are determined to create more economic and commercial opportunities, he added.
He said such efforts will bear fruit only if peace and stability are established in Iraq and the national unity government start developing infrastructure projects.
The Iraqi prime minister hoped that his country will extend such kinds of cooperation with Saudi Arabia, Syria and Turkey so that the Iraqi citizen will witness a prosperous life
