Special meeting held on Tehran’s traffic congestion Ahmadinejad calls for concerted efforts to resolve Tehran’s traffic problems

TEHRAN, Jan. 11 (MNA) -- Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has said that efficient management, a positive attitude, and coordination are necessary to resolve Tehran’s traffic problems.

Ahmadinejad made the remarks in Tehran on Sunday at a special meeting he called to discuss Tehran’s traffic congestion.
The Tehran mayor, the chairman of the Tehran City Council, the interior minister, the industries and mines minister, the deputy roads and transportation minister, the Transportation and Fuel Consumption Department director, and a number of other experts attended the meeting.
Ahmadinejad called heavy traffic a major factor behind the waste of resources, saying that proper utilization of the available space and the adoption of service request management are practical approaches that can be taken to improve the flow of traffic.
At the meeting it was decided that the Tehran Municipality will formulate short and long-term plans to reduce traffic congestion.
