Iranian Navy plans to build new bases on Sea of Oman

TEHRAN -- The Iranian Navy plans to establish new bases on the Sea of Oman by 2015.

The naval bases are currently under construction and they will all be completed by the end of the Fifth Five-Year Socio-Economic Development Plan (2010-2015), the commander of the Iranian Navy told the Mehr News Agency on Sunday.
More information about the project will be provided in the near future, Rear Admiral Habibollah Sayyari added.
He went on to say that the Iranian Navy intends to expand its presence in the Sea of Oman region, in line with its strategic objectives.
The Navy Commander announced on October 29 last year that Iran has started constructing new naval bases along the coast of the Sea of Oman
