Turkish firm to transit Iran’s gas to Europe

TEHRAN - National Iranian Gas Export Company (NIGEC) and a Turkish entity signed a letter of agreement in Tehran on Saturday to export Iran’s natural gas to Europe via Turkey.

NIGEC Managing Director Seyyed Reza Kassaizadeh said that the company has required the Turkish side to receive their government’s permission for the transfer of up to 35 billion cubic feet of gas per year.
A new company will be established in this regard of which NIGEC will have 50 percent of the shares, PIN reported.
For the time being, the Persian Pipeline and Nabucco are the two most viable routes for the transfer of Iranian natural gas to Europe.
