TEHRAN - The Islamic Revolution Guards Corps on Friday revealed a media plot by the Netherlands, which it said is one of the most serious cyber projects ever devised for the overthrow of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

The IRGC Organized Cyber Crimes Center issued a statement saying that the Netherlands is one of the countries that has backed Iranian opposition movements in recent years.
In 2005, the Dutch parliament approved a proposal put forward by Iranian-Dutch MP Farah Karimi to allocate 15 million euros to promote “media pluralism in Iran” through television networks, the statement said.
However, the Dutch government changed its plans due to some political restraints and the sum was spent on Internet websites, it added.
Karimi cooperated with the Mojahedin Khalq Organization (MKO) military branch during the early years after Iran’s Islamic Revolution of 1979. Later, she clandestinely left the country through the Iran-Iraq border and traveled to the Netherlands to study political science. As a Dutch lawmaker, she was invited by the Majlis to visit Iran several times, the statement said.
The IRGC said that after monitoring the conduct of those media organizations and networks that signed contracts with the Dutch Foreign Ministry, which was responsible for allocating the funds, it realized that they have all been seeking the common objectives of promoting social and sexual perversion in Iran, exaggerating the enemies’ threats against the country, and depicting Iran’s current administration as incompetent.
