HAMEDAN – Iran plans to export $10 billion worth of products to Iraq in its current calendar year (began March 21), the Iranian commercial attaché has said.

In an interview with IRNA published on Sunday, Mehdi Nejatnia said Iran’s exports to Iraq stood at $2.3 billion last year.
Speaking on the sidelines of an international conference on investment and development in Hamedan, he said Iraq was the major importer of Iranian goods in the preceding year.
The official also said that Iran exports about $1 million worth of technical-engineering services to Iraq annually in the power and housing sectors.
Iran has extended great ties with Iraq since the toppling of the Saddam regime in 2003. Iran was among the first countries which recognized the Iraqi governing council and reopened its embassy in Baghdad.
