TEHRAN (FNA) -- Two top ranking Pakistani delegations arrived in Iran on Monday to explore avenues for bolstering economic ties between the two countries.

Pakistan’s Commerce Minister Makhdoum Amin Fahim arrived in Iran late Monday to attend a meeting of Iran-Pakistan Joint “ Group.
In an interview with the Islamic republic news agency, Pakistani Commerce Ministry Spokesman Shahab Hamed pointed out that a letter of agreement seeking to enhance “ ties between the two states would be inked by Iranian Commerce Minister and Pakistani “ Minister during a meeting here in Tehran.
“Last year the preferential tariff issue over the items of interest for Iran and Pakistan was discussed at the joint session, and with the agreement of the two countries, some other items, too, were added to that list later on,” he added.
Pakistan views Iran’s energy as a source for its economic development. Currently the most important project for the extension of Iran-Pakistan economic ties is the completion of the Iran-Pakistan-India gas pipeline, known as the IPI gas pipeline project.
A delegation, led by the minister of Punjab, the largest province of Pakistan, Shahbaz Sharif along with the Treasure Minister, the Planning and Development Minister, the Provincial Head Minister, head of Chamber of Commerce, five members of the Provincial Parliament, and a number of Punjab Province businessmen participated in a meeting with the top officials and heads of different industrial, agricultural and business units of Iran's northeastern Khorassan Razavi Province to confer about mutual cooperation.
