Iran encourages Japanese companies to invest in oil sector

TOKYO (IRNA) – The chairman of Iran’s Chamber of Commerce, Industries and Mines, Mohammad Nahavandian, said on Friday evening that investment by Japanese companies in the Iranian oil sector would start a new phase of Iran-Japan economic cooperation.

Nahavandian made the remarks during a meeting in Tokyo with Japanese MP Kotaro Tamura, who is a strong supporter of Iran-Japan economic ties.
Iranian official stated the Japanese companies can invest in establishing banks in Iran, marine transport activities as well as in oil and economic projects.
Tamura said Iran is a powerful country in Asia and expressed hope that Japan would strengthen its cordial ties with Tehran. The Japanese parliamentarian added that he will travel to Iran soon to review the trade opportunities in the Islamic Republic.
Tamura stated Iran is the third leading crude oil supplier of Japan after Saudi Arabia and the UAE.
