UN chief congratulates Ahmadinejad on re-election

TEHRAN – United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, in a message, has congratulated President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad on his re-election.

The UN is willing to strengthen cooperation with Ahmadinejad and the Islamic Republic in addressing regional and global issues, Ban said in his message.

He also praised Iran’s role in fighting against drugs trafficking and terrorism, sheltering refugees and promoting social-economic development.

Ban also invited Ahmadinejad to attend a meeting on climatic changes that is going to be held on September 22.
