TEHRAN - Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has said the enemies of the Islamic Republic orchestrated the recent detention center incidents.

Iran’s security and military forces and intelligence services would never commit such “shameful” acts, he asserted.
The incidents that happened at the University of Tehran dormitory and at certain detention centers after the June 12 presidential election were “parts of the enemy’s scenario” which were carried out by agents affiliated to people who sought to overthrow the government, Ahmadinejad told worshippers at Friday prayers in Tehran.
He also asked the country’s security and judicial officials to deal with the people who committed the inhumane acts.
Ahmadinejad said the country’s enemies were defeated in the election and in the post-election incidents.
“They were defeated both in the election and in the incidents that followed. They suffered two losses. The incidents were bitter but the outcome was sweet. A number of innocent people were hurt but the enemies were eventually humiliated,” he added.
After the election, when the enemies suffered their first loss, they sought to undermine this great achievement of the Iranian nation, so they conspired to tarnish the Islamic Republic’s image and to undermine the election, the president said. The enemies sought to take revenge, but they failed again, Ahmadinejad stated.
“They made a big mistake, but these days they keep sending messages saying they want to make amends. We hope they will correct themselves and their behavior and intentions,” he added.
Ahmadinejad also called for the prosecution of the masterminds of the post-election unrest.
“The leaders and the main elements involved should be seriously dealt with,” he stated.
“Those who organized (the protests), provoked, and followed the line of the enemy should be seriously dealt with,” the president said
