Cleric MPs to examine EC’s national unity plan

TEHRAN -- MP Mohammad Taqi Rahbar has said that the cleric MPs will examine the plan announced by Expediency Council Chairman Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani for resolving the current problems.

Rafsanjani has said EC members have devised a plan to settle the current disputes, but MPs have not been informed of the details of the plan for national reconciliation, the MP told the Mehr News Agency on Friday.
The cleric MPs also plan to hold meetings with some prominent figures like Combatant Clergy Association Secretary General Ayatollah Mohammad Reza Mahdavi Kani, marja’ taqlids (Shia clerics who are regarded as sources of emulation), and other leading clerics of the Qom Seminary.
-------- Political figures meet leading clerics
A number of political figures held meetings with the marja’ taqlids in Qom on Thursday.
National Prosecutor General Gholam-Hossein Mohseni-Ejei held meetings with Grand Ayatollah Nasser Makarem Shirazi, Grand Ayatollah Ali Safi Golpaygani, and Grand Ayatollah Abdolkarim Mousavi Ardebili and gave a report on the current situation in the country.
Tehran Mayor Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf and members of the National Coalition Party also held meetings with the prominent clerics.
The focus of all the meetings was the country’s current political situation, and the clerics emphasized the need for national unity and insisted that everyone must refrain from making undocumented accusations.
In addition, Grand Ayatollah Nasser Makarem Shirazi and Grand Ayatollah Ali Safi Golpaygani had a private meeting on Wednesday
